A "fund of funds" is an investment fund that uses an investment strategy of holding a portfolio of other investment funds rather than investing directly in shares, bonds or other securities. Commonly referred to as multi-manager investment it normally invests in a balanced allocation: 60%–70% stocks, 20%–30% bonds, and 10%–20% short-term investments. The advisor will seek to maximize long-term total return using a highly diversified, fund of funds structure. The portfolio will be continually rebalanced.
